The scripture that stood out to me today was Joshua 7:1 which says, “But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord.[a] A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri[b] son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.”
As a result of the actions of one man, Achan, the whole of Israel suffered; they were defeated when they set out to conquer Ai.
This is a good reminder to all of us that we have a responsibility to one another, and that when we do things that are selfish, we can harm our whole community.
