In today’s reading, Moses dies at 120 years old, and Joshua takes charge of leading Israel after being anointed by Moses. These passages also contain the story or Rahab the prostitute, who hides the two spies from Israel in return for a promise to spare her family when Israel takes over the land.
But the scripture that stood out to me was Deuteronomy 34:5-6 which says, “5 So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab, just as the Lord had said. 6 The Lord buried him in a valley near Bethpeor in Moab, but to this day no one knows the exact place.”
This passage stood out to me because it says that the Lord buried Moses. Perhaps this should not be surprising to us, as Moses and the Lord had an intimate relationship, Moses even having seen the Lord pass by him.
