The scripture that stood out to me today was Deuteronomy 30:15-16. At this point in Israel’s history, Moses is about to die, Joshua becomes the leader of Israel, and the Lord is about to lead them into the Promised Land.
Moses is speaking to the Israelites, reminding them of their covenant with the Lord, calling them back to the Lord, and reminding them of the choice they have.
Deuteronomy 30:15-16 reads, “Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. 16 For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.”
This reminded me that we still have that same choice in our lives today. The Lord wants to bless us greatly, and when we follow Him, we will receive those great blessings. But when we choose to disobey, there are consequences. The Lord, who loves us so much, knows how we should live our lives; by following him and his commands, good things will follow. When we choose to disobey, bad things happen. We are our own worst enemy.
So let us chose to follow the Lord each and every day!
