I don’t know about you, but sometimes my mouth can get me into trouble. I have been accused, from time to time and probably not unfairly, of enjoying the sound of my own voice too much.
Then there are the times when unkind or untruthful words come out.
That’s what I thought of when I read Job 15:5 today, which says, “Your sins are telling your mouth what to say. Your words are based on clever deception.”
This is what one of Job’s “friends” is telling him. Yup, one of the friends that came to “comfort” him.
Such a good reminder that our words are powerful.
They can be used love and build up.
Or they can be used to hurt and tear down.
Let us speak out of love, not our of our sin.
