The scripture that stood out to me today was Exodus 35:2 which is simply another command to obey the Sabbath day. It reads: “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord. Anyone who works on that day must be put to death.”
The repeated mention of the Sabbath is a good reminder for me that we need to be intentional about our rest. In our culture and society, it is all to easy to get caught up doing a thousand things, leaving us feeling rushed, hectic, tired and overwhelmed.
Having margin in our lives is something I am going to write about more coming up, but for now the simple reminder that we need to have a Sabbath day is good. Not only do we need one, but God COMMANDS us to observe it.
